Art in Valkenburg


Art in Valkenburg (KiV) has become a household name for art lovers after seven consecutive years of this art event in the treasuries of the Gerlachuschurch. An extension of the collaboration with Camille Oostwegel Château Hotels & Restaurants resulting in a sculpture exhibition in the gardens and park of the Château St. Gerlach. The exhibition can be visited free of charge.

Across the estate, visitors can admire the sculptures made of different materials (wood, stone, plastic, Corten steel, stainless steel, terra cotta, etc.) made by artists from home and abroad.

Outside KiV 2016 is organized by the initiators of KiV: Marx and Marx Limburg art and Giardino Gallery & Sculpture Garden in collaboration with Château St. Gerlach.

Pop on Top 2016


Pop on Top is a fun (family) festival full of atmosphere, experience and great music! The Kuurpark, the garden at Holland Casino, has all the makings to ensure this 6th edition will be another fantastic party!

We’ll have both national and international bands who guarantee an extraordinary experience, amusement and magnificent music finished off with a superb fireworks display! For the first time this year we’ll also have the ‘Feesttent’ and the ‘3FM Serious Talent Stage’ where you will experience nothing less than a unique party feel!

The 6th edition of Pop on Top is a must for all music lovers and cannot be missed!

Children under 16 are welcome to come along provided they are accompanied by an adult. They’ll have fun all day long at Pop on Top!

  • KiV 2015: A unique Art Exhibition

    Saturday March 14th marks the opening of KiV that stands for Art in Valkenburg. The Art exhibition will be held for the 8th year running and this time there will also be an exhibit in the open air at the St Gerlach Castle!

    KiV outdoors: Between Saturday March 14th and Sunday September 27th

  • Red Bull Soapbox Race in Valkenburg: for the first time on the famous Cauberg!

    Put the 16th May 2015 in your diary when the steep Cauberg hill sets the scene for the Dutch edition of the Red Bull Soapbox race! The youngest F1 driver in the world, Max Verstappen, will also be there!

Getting to Valkenburg

Municipal Transportation
Valkenburg aan de Geul has its own station. Trains arrive four times per hour from Maastricht and Heerlen. Valkenburg is also accessible from Kerkrade and Aachen (Germany) by rail. Apart from the train there are also bus lines from Maastricht, Heerlen, Vaals and Sittard. For actual times check the special transportation website www.9292.nl (in Dutch but easy to understand).

By Car
Coming from Eindhoven: Follow the A2 motorway towards Maastricht and take the exit Valkenburg. Then it is just a question of following the road signs to Valkenburg.
Coming from Brussels: Follow the A3 motorway from Brussels to Liège. Once in Liège take the E25 towards Maastricht. Just past the town of Maastricht take the A79 in the direction of Valkenburg/Heerlen.
Coming from Germany (Cologne/Aachen): Take the motorway E314 and follow the signs to Heerlen, Valkenburg and Maastricht. Please use exit 3 Valkenburg-Houthem (not Valkenburg Centre). After the exit bear left towards Valkenburg following the signage.

Parking in Valkenburg

Where to park in Valkenburg? In the centre, you can park on the streets for limited period of time. In the parking lots, there is no limit in time.

Free Parking at P+R Maastricht Noord

You can easily park your car at the Maastricht North station. Twice per hour the train takes you to the famous old railway station in Valkenburg in just ten minutes. The perfect starting point for your city trip!
